A good friend of mine had a wonderful idea she kept to herself for about 2 years or more. When she first thought of the idea, it was so big, she wasn’t sure where to begin. She did some research and then decided to put it on hold. It wasn’t until a business mentor and several of her friends convinced her to start this project –but on a smaller scale—that she realized, ‘Wait, I can do this. I don’t need to wait!’
This past weekend was the soft launch of her idea, which included her first event. I attended it and gave her a few suggestions of things to do right away. She texted me later that evening with a few updates. In her closing text she stated, “Wow!!! One small step is all it takes.”
I’m happy that she took the first step. There are many reasons that we put off the ideas we have in our heart—it may be a serious case of wanting everything to be perfect, so we procrastinate or it could be the fear of failure.
When we delay our ideas, we delay the potential for something incredible to happen. We were all put on this earth for a purpose and we are all blessed with unique talents and gifts that are a natural part of who we are. Each day is an opportunity to work on new ideas or toward whatever dream we have.
If your idea is so big that you don’t know where to start, take one small step. Sometimes one of the hardest parts of launching a new vision is having confidence. What I’ve often seen is that once someone takes a bold step toward a new business or career idea, doors begin to open up. That one step is essentially a brave declaration…that positions you to be on a path… that you sensed you were supposed to be on, but you may not have trusted your intuition.
Will it be easy to achieve whatever idea you have? Probably not! Is it extremely easier to watch other people make it happen, while you sit on the sidelines? Yes, it is! But are you a spectator or an athlete? Get in the game…called LIFE!
